Planned Giving

Why give in your will?

  • Continue to use assets or property during your lifetime
  • Potentially reduce your estate tax burden
  • Leave a lasting legacy for Veterans

Through a simple provision in your will, you may make a gift to Paralyzed Veterans of America. This is the easiest and most common type of planned gift. Making a bequest is an excellent choice if you want to maintain control of your assets during your lifetime and support PVA in the future.

We can work with you and your advisors to craft specific bequest language that accurately reflects your gift intentions.

What if I don't have a will?

Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) partners with FreeWill, to offer an online estate planning tool that makes creating a will or trust easy and cost-free. In as little as 20 minutes, you can help support our mission and provide Veterans and their families with the services they need for future generations.

If you include PVA in your planning, please use our legal name, federal tax ID, and legal address below.

Donor Advised Funds

Simplify your giving.

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account that lets you donate money, receive an immediate tax deduction, and recommend how the funds are granted to PVA over time. It’s a flexible, tax-efficient way to manage your philanthropy.

When you give through a DAF, you’re making a meaningful investment in our mission. You can set up a one-time or recurring gift in any amount—whatever works best for you.

Revocable Living Trust

Plan your legacy. Amplify your impact.

A living trust, also known as a revocable living trust or a family trust, is a legal document that holds title or ownership to your real property and assets. When you create a revocable living trust, you transfer ownership of your assets to the trust. Transferring assets is typically called "funding." When you transfer title you DO NOT relinquish any control. You can still buy, sell, borrow or transfer. To many, the living trust looks a lot like a will. It includes the details and instructions for how you want your estate to be handled at your death. Unlike a will, a properly funded trust offers several benefits, including:

  1. Does not go through probate.
  2. Prevents the courts from controlling your assets at incapacity.
  3. Allows you to name beneficiaries including Paralyzed Veterans of America.
  4. If you'd like to speak with a member of our staff, please contact us at (800) 424-8200, ext. 7789. We're also happy to work with your attorney or financial planner.

Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)

100% of contributions made through the CFC to the PVA Research Foundation and the PVA Education Foundation go directly toward our mission: alleviating the effects of and finding a cure for spinal cord injury and disease (SCI/D).

There are two simple ways you can support Paralyzed Veterans of America through the CFC — you can choose either option, or both.

Option 1: Spinal Cord Research Foundation (CFC #12096)

Support the cure. Your donation sparks hope and possibility for paralyzed Veterans and others living with spinal cord injuries and diseases. Together, we’re driving research that:

  • Regenerates nerve fibers to restore movement, sensation, and independence
  • Reduces the life-altering effects of spinal cord injuries and related diseases
  • Creates innovative adaptive technologies that empower people to live fuller, more connected lives

If you select this option, please reference CFC #12096

Option 2: Spinal Cord Injury Education & Training Foundation (CFC #11958)

Education changes lives. With your support, we create powerful teaching tools, share groundbreaking research, and empower healthcare professionals to inspire independence and enhance the quality of life for Veterans and all people living with spinal cord injuries and diseases.

When was PVA founded?

Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) was founded in 1946 by a group of World War II Veterans who returned home with spinal cord injuries. United by a shared mission, they formed the organization to advocate for better health care, accessibility, and benefit to ensure that Veterans with disabilities could live full, independent lives.
