Attendees gathered at the 2019 Women Veterans Empowerment Retreat

Maintaining a powerful line of communication with members during the unfolding pandemic has been one of our highest priorities. Just recently, we launched our first webinar in the Women Veterans Empowerment Webinar Series. The first webinar’s topic, titled COVID-19: Facts & Myths, covered issues specific to our female veteran population – from current healthcare concerns, to general health and wellness topics, as well as advocacy and legislation updates on how PVA is working to address the specific needs of women veterans.

The first webinar focused on the facts and myths surrounding the current COVID-19 pandemic, and included topics such as transmission of the virus, personal protective equipment, testing and immunity, and how women are affected. You can view the webinar recording here.

Currently, there are two million women veterans living in the United States, making up 10 percent of the U.S. veteran population. Women are the fastest growing demographic in both the military and veteran population. Female veterans – especially those with spinal cord injuries and diseases such as MS and ALS – are returning home to find a VA health care system that is strongly focused on men, and often does not meet their unique needs.

PVA remains committed to the health and well-being of all its members, including the specialized needs of women veterans. To sign up for future webinars:
