Creative, kind and thoughtful are the three words that best describe Kid’s Day participant, Liam. At eight years old, he enjoys all things Mario, Harry Potter and anything written by Dav Pilkey, of Captain Underpants fame. Plus he’s quite the fort builder along with his younger sister, Lydia. Being the only student at his school who’s in a wheelchair can be disheartening. Sometimes Liam just wishes he “had a buddy in a chair,” Liam said. When he attends Muscular Dystrophy Association’s camp, or other MD-related events, he doesn’t feel so alone, so he’s excited to participate in Kid’s Day at this year’s National Veteran Wheelchair Games. From basketball to hockey to any adaptive sport in between, Liam’s excited to “give it all a try” this year.

“My husband and I are excited for Liam to be part of a team; and learn to problem solve, challenge himself and have fun! As an athlete myself, I love the idea of him participating in sports, and the immense benefits of being part of something greater than himself.” — Liam’s mom
