UPDATES FROM PVA

Women VETERANS' HEALTH Campaign

Two women sit side by side. One wears a gray "ARMY" T-shirt and uses a wheelchair, while the other wears a gray "AIR FORCE VETERAN" T-shirt. Both have serious expressions. The PVA logo is visible in the corner.

Did you know: Some women Veterans struggle to get medical care, because facilities and equipment aren't wheelchair-accessible? In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, PVA launched a Women Veteran’s Health PSA: Women First  that shows the challenges women face getting mammograms and other care. PVA National Senior Vice President Tammy Jones and PVA National Vice President Anne Robinson joined forces with PVA celebrity partner Hannah Storm to drive home the message.

PVA successfully advocates FIX TO va shortage

PVAction Force's advocacy was instrumental in securing a critical victory for Veterans.

Congress is back on recess this month after a short return to Washington in September. Prior to leaving town, Congress passed legislation allocating $3 billion to the VA to prevent a funding shortfall that could have delayed vital benefits. This essential funding ensures that Veterans continue to receive their disability compensation, pension, survivor, and readjustment benefits without interruption.

Thanks to the efforts of over 475 PVAction Force
who contacted their members of Congress, we were able to successfully advocate for this crucial legislation.

New Women Veterans Clinics

A woman standing on a vibrating exercise platform smiles while a man in a suit discusses the device with her. They are in a convention hall with exhibitors and attendees in the background.

PVA visited two of the newest Women Veterans Health Care (WVHC) Clinics in Richmond, VA and Cleveland, OH.

Both clinics operate with a large accessible waiting area and multiple examination/procedure rooms, and are staffed primarily with female team members. The new clinics are located in separate buildings on their medical center campuses with ample accessible parking.

PVA Architecture focuses on reaching out to medical facility staff to make sure WVHC clinics are accessible. We then update our facility assessment database with this information.
