WASHINGTON (January 6, 2020) — Paralyzed Veterans of America Executive Director Carl Blake issued the following statement regarding the announcement from Tennessee Republican Rep. Phil Roe, ranking member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, and former chair of the committee, that he will retire at the end of 2020:

“As a leader of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Ranking Member Roe championed the needs of catastrophically disabled veterans, including the expansion of eligibility for VA’s comprehensive caregiver program under the VA MISSION Act. Because of Ranking Member Roe’s stewardship on Capitol Hill, our veterans are able to receive the care and supports that they deserve. We thank Ranking Member Phil Roe for his service in the US Army Medical Corps and tireless support of important PVA legislative priorities and for the veterans’ community.”
