We are a non-profit organization with a mission to meet every Veteran in need, from day one of an injury or illness—so they know they are not alone. We advocate for Veterans issues on the national level, fund medical research to treat and cure paralysis, help Veterans remodel their homes for wheelchair accessibility, and so much more.

PVA has been fighting for the rights of paralyzed Veterans and all people with disabilities for decades. We’ve been behind some of the nation’s most important disability civil rights legislation, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act, and Air Carrier Access Act. We push for meaningful reform so that all people with disabilities can live independent and fulfilled lives.
PVA helps Veterans rebuild their lives and regain their confidence after serious injury or disease. Through our wheelchair Sports programs, Veterans discover they are stronger than they ever imagined. Our Veterans Career Program helps clients find meaningful employment to build their sense of self worth and independence. Our Women Veterans Empowerment retreat helps attendees become leaders in their own communities.
PVA is committed to serving those who served. Our benefits and legal teams help Veterans get the earned medical and financial benefits they deserve from VA. Our Medical Services Department oversees the quality of care at VA hospitals. And our National Service Officers, who are stationed within VA hospitals across the country, are committed to meeting Veterans from day one of their injury or illness to help them rebuild their lives.
“After I began to participate with Paralyzed Veterans of America’s racing [program], I not only stopped being embarrassed, I actually became proud of who I am as a paralyzed Veteran.”
— Leigh, U.S. Marine Corps Veteran
You can join PVA’s Service Beyond the Service with one simple action in
your community – Honor the Spot.
DID YOU KNOW THAT
Concerns about parking often cause people with disabilities to stay home, which leads to isolation.
When you Honor the Spot, you send a powerful message that you believe an accessible world for all creates stronger and more empowering communities.
TAKE THE PLEDGE TO
I pledge to support independence for Veterans and all people with disabilities. I will Honor the Spot so concerns about parking won’t impact someone’s decision to dine out, meet up with family and friends, or attend an event.

PVA to me is very similar to the Marines. You know you guys are the first ones in and the last ones out.
